A lot of Filipinos want to be a seafarer. The result, overflowing supply vs demand that leads to a high unemployment rate of seafarers especially those fresh graduates. But let's not get into that.

Who doesn't want a job that has free food, accommodation and a trip all over the world for free? 1. Principal (Rumors tell that Europeans pay more than any other nationalities). 
2. Supply and demand of the rank. 
3. An individual's qualification and performance. 
4. The company itself
