"No more Licensure Examination retake to revalidate your COCs if you didn't use/act it for the past 5 years." Maritime Industry Authority(MARINA) Administrator Dr. Maximo Mejia stated in a meeting with ANGKLA partylist being led by Cong. Jesulito A. Manalo, Some leaders of maritime organizations are also there.

According to an ANGKLA post, MARINA will release an advisory that will inform the Filipino seafarers that instead of retaking the Licensure Examination if you didn't use/act it for the past 5 years, one just have to undergo a refresher course. The said course will be in "accordance" with the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping(STCW) Dr. Mejia added.

ANGKLA claims that it was done after they submit House Resolution 2457. A resolution that will urge the investigation of some circulars and advisory for the better of the Filipino seafarers. But do they really know what's going on with the Philippine Maritime Industry? Check out how they spelled out STCW below, you be the judge.

Cong. Manalo and Dr. Mejia also discussed the issue about the Daily Journal, a requirement for Licensure Examination for aspiring officers that were being complained for being inappropriate and nonconformity with STCW. Dr. Mejia just "promised," that they study and do something about it so it's not final that the Daily Journals is removed.

If we recall, Engr Nelson Ramirez together with thousands of Filipino seafarers march to MARINA Kalaw branch to express their anger about the excessive trainings, the retaking of Licensure Examination, and the Daily Journal but Dr. Mejia didn't face them, instead, he let his representatives, the MARINA board of examinees to face the rallyist. They also promised that they will do something about it.

Why Dr. Mejia won't face the Filipino seafarers, the victim of this chaotic events? Why he's with ANGKLA roaming around the maritime schools in the country "helping" them? Let's leave him answer this questions.
